Finding the one...
the idea that life is incomplete until you find the one.

Families and society have a way of drilling certain narratives into you —
the idea that life is incomplete until you find the one.
The fairytale. The happily-ever-after.
The promise that someone else will make you whole.
But I started questioning this more deeply —
as have many in the younger generations.
Maybe it’s because our values are shifting.
Maybe it’s because we’re finally learning
and revisiting what we’ve been taught —
unpacking the stories we grew up with
and asking if they were ever truly ours.
Even fairy tales read differently now.
The stories have softened,
become less about rescue
and more about becoming.
Is there really the one?
Maybe there is… for some.
But for me, it was never something I truly believed in.
And that’s okay.
For some, The One is a person.
For others, it’s the universe,
or a force they can’t quite name.
Maybe it’s different for everyone —
shaped by what we’re taught,
what we believe,
what we’ve lived through.
But for me,
The One has never changed.
The One above.
Always above.
And yes —
I can’t wait to finally meet Him.
Always,
Zahra
